Serving others is a central part of our mission at Downers Grove First United Methodist Church. We offer opportunities for people of all ages to make a difference in our community, across the country, and around the world. Everyone is invited to take part in this work of faith in action.

Community Kitchen Dinners
Our church hosts Thursday evening dinners to support neighbors experiencing food insecurity in our community.
Volunteers help set up, serve, and clean up from 5:15–6:45 PM. You are welcome to serve weekly, bi-weekly, or whenever your schedule allows. See the sign-up form to get involved.
This ministry partners with six other local churches to provide meals throughout the week in Downers Grove.

Caring Connections Callers Ministry
The Caring Connections Callers (CCC) ministry of our church enables us to stay connected while caring and supporting for each other as we spread God’s healing and love. We welcome all to be a part of the CCC ministry.
This ministry's primary goal is to maintain intergenerational connections between members of our church family and is coordinated within the Membership Work Area.
The group welcomes new members of CCC in the fall (or any time of year) and are happy to add new people to our care list throughout the year too!
The CCC ministry makes and maintains connections in a variety of ways:
- One-on-one in-person visits
- Regularly scheduled drop-off visits with seasonal bags filled with things such as a flower, a treat, prayers, and scriptural words of hope.
