DGFUMC Coronavirus (COVID-19) Response

We understand you may have concerns about how the Coronavirus (COVID-19) may impact our church community. The church community's health and welfare is of great importance to us. Given that the situation is evolving rapidly, sometimes hourly, we are taking measures to prepare and protect you as information becomes available.

At this time, we are following the school districts in the area and effective immediately, we are:

• Canceling worship services

• Closing the church office, and

• Canceling all church activities

We will resume activities on Friday, April 3, unless more information becomes available.

We will try to record Pastor Claude's Sunday sermon and encourage you watch for that online and on Facebook. Please login to Facebook and view the post on our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/dgfucmc.

We suggest that all practice the following recommendations provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and to help prevent the transmission of COVID-19 and other viruses based on information from the CDC and the DuPage County of Health Department.

Follow these simple daily steps to stop the spread of illness:

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick
  • Stay home when sick.
  • Do not touch your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. (This is the length of time it takes to sing or hum the Happy Birthday song twice, or the ABC song once.) Click here for a handout about Cleaning Your Hands.
  • If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.

IF YOU ARE SICK, to keep from spreading respiratory illness to others:

  • Stay home
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash. Or use the inside of your elbow.
  • Clean and disinfect objects and surfaces you touch.
  • Watch for Symptoms
  • Reported illnesses have ranged from mild symptoms to severe illness and death for confirmed coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases.

The following symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure:

  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath
