Capital Campaign

Pave if ForwardDGFUMC is pleased to announce our one-year capital campaign called Pave it Forward. Our Pave it Forward capital campaign will provide the funding and allow DGFUMC to proceed with the expansion of the North parking lot. In 2005, DGFUMC held an all-church meeting and voted unanimously to purchase the 1045 Grove Street property to expand our North parking lot. This capital campaign will complete this 2005 vision.

Our financial goal is to raise $500,000 in one year in order to complete the parking lot expansion as well as pay off the long-term debt owed on the property. Permeable paver bricks will be used in the north lot expansion, which allow for the most economical way to address the strict drainage requirements dictated by the Village of Downers Grove. Additionally, the bricks provide a long service life and are ecologically friendly. We estimate that each paver brick donated will contribute approximately $65 towards our campaign goal.

Our church vision is to reach and to touch as many lives as possible through worship, fellowship, music, education, and missions. The “Pave it Forward” campaign is just one of many concurrent projects that our church has planned to spread the word and love of Christ. Your financial support is essential for a successful parking lot campaign. Download the Pave it Forward pledge card. Choose the “brick package” that best suits your giving level. Simply complete the form and drop it in the Sunday offertory plate or mail it to the church office.

Annual Financial Campaign

DGFUMCAs Downers Grove First United Methodist celebrates its 175-year anniversary, it is a time to reflect upon our history and the integral role we have played in our local community. Our church is centered around God through music, fellowship, missions, and education. As we embrace our past, let us also look forward to the future. Your financial support is critical to our future. Our ministries at Downers Grove First United Methodist are vast and diverse. They require staff, program materials and a well-maintained building and grounds to carry out all of these important ministries dear to our church family.

Direct debits will only be made MONTHLY to your account. (Sorry can’t do weekly!)

Fundraising Coordination

In an effort to coordinate the various work areas, committees, and activity groups’ fund raising efforts in the spirit of FUMC’s Mission, Vision and Values statement, the Finance Committee requests that all groups considering fundraising complete the form below and submit to the Finance Committee. All fundraising monies should be processed through FUMC’s accounting system. Please allow a minimum of two weeks for approval process.

Tents, Tables, and Chairs

Youth In TentFor the past ten tears, our Youth InTent program has served our church and community by renting out tents, tables and chairs for graduation, birthday, anniversary and other summer celebrations, as well as neighborhood block parties, weddings and wedding receptions.

DGFUMC youth take care of delivery, set-up and take-down. In return they receive credit toward mission and choir trips.

Our prices are competitive with commercial vendors and benefit a wonderful program. Without revenue from Heritage Fest parking, our Youth InTent program is the largest fundraiser for our youth program. New York City will be the destination for the 2012 Chapel Choir Tour, so we need to generate as many funds as possible.

For prices and information please see the Youth InTent Reservation Contract at the link below.  Feel free to contact Don Dunham with any questions.

Endowments

With your help, the Board of Gifts and Bequests will seek to ensure the church's endowed funds remain a vital force for the church and its congregation for generations to come. A well-funded endowment will not only provide security, but help to fund programs and outreach that would otherwise not be possible. We encourage you to consider how your special gift can allow our congregation to reach beyond what is possible in our general operating budget.
