Young at Heart

Young at HeartThis is a group of senior adults who get together the second Wednesday of each month for a social activity, fun and fellowship. Some of their activities have included a trolley ride to the Sears homes in Downers Grove, a trip to Starved Rock, Christmas in Chicago, a movie: "Singing in the Rain"; a play in Naperville and a Sing-A-Long. 

You may sign up for events in the Parlor on Sunday mornings, or contact the Church Office or Marilou Welch.

Young At Heart: Circuit Court Clerk

Mr. Chris Kachiroubas, Circuit Court Clerk, DuPage County, Wheaton will bring to us an excellent informative program. He will speak on how the Circuit Court Clerk’s office works, including an overview of the office and how the Court system is adapting to the 21st Century.

A box lunch will be provided at noon in Chapel Hall. Cost per person will be $10.00.

Young At Heart: Arsenic and Old Lace

The Young At Heart group for senior adults will be enjoying the movie "Arsenic and Old Lace" when they meet at noon in Chapel Hall on Wednesday, February 8th. They will start with a pizza, salad, and dessert lunch and then watch the movie. Of course we will have popcorn!

Cost per person will be $6.00

Young At Heart: White Fence Farm and "Legacy Girls"

We will be going to White Fence Farm for lunch and to hear “Legacy Girls” who will present, “Boogie Woogie Back to the 30’s and 40’s with an Andrew Sisters Musical Revue”. Among the numbers to be sung are: “Don’t Sit Under the Apple Tree”, “Oh Johnny”, “Rum and Coca-Cola” and “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy”.

Cost is $33.00 per person. Reservations need to be made by December 1st.

Young At Heart: "The Gifts of Christmas"

The Young At Heart group for senior adults is looking forward to having Peg Schultz present the program for their Wednesday, November 9 gathering.

We will start in Chapel Hall at noon with a planned potluck in which those attending will bring a dish to share.

After lunch Peg Schultz will present "The Gifts of Christmas".

Young At Heart: Morton Arboretum

Young at Heart will be going to Morton Arboretum in Lisle, on Wednesday, October 12.

  • Gather in the church parking lot at 11:00 a.m. to carpool to Hyatt Parking Lot in Lisle.
  • Leave the Hyatt Parking Lot at 11:30 a.m. to go to the Gingko Restaurant for lunch.
  • At 2:00 p.m. we will take an one hour tram ride around the Arboretum.

Costs: $5.00 entrance fee, $6.00 tram ride

Lunch is on your own.

YAH: Le Chocolat du Bouchard

On Wednesday, September 14th, we are going to Quigley’s Restaurant at 43 E. Jefferson Ave., Naperville, for lunch at noon. We will be given individual checks. We will then walk over to “Le Chocolat du Bouchard” Shop and Café at 129 S. Washington St., Naperville. Cathy Bouchard, owner, is expecting us between 1:30 and 2:00 and will give a mini seminar on the health benefits of chocolate and samples of her chocolate will be available. The party room is located on the second floor and there is no elevator. We will gather in the Church parking lot at 11:00 a.m. and leave around 11:15 a.m. for the noon lunch. We will carpool and those driving will be given directions.

YAH: Olive Tap

On July 13th Young at Heart will be going to the Olive Tap at 5143, Mochel Drive in Downers Grove. We can park free at the Downers Grove parking garage. We will meet at the Olive Tap at 10:30AM. There is no fee for the tour. We will then walk over to Egg Harbor for lunch which will be at our own expense.

June 8, 2011 is a guided tour at Willowbrook Wildlife Center. The 60 minutes tour begins at 10:30am. YAH: Aurora University

The Young At Heart group for senior adults will be visiting the Indian Museum at the Aurora University on Wednesday May 11. We will take a tour of the Schingoethe Museum follwed by lunch at the Colonial Café in Aurora. In the afternoon, we will visit with Dr. Jonathan Dean, Assistant Professor, Religion Fellow, at the Wackerlin Center for Faith and Action.

We plan to leave from the church parking lot at 9:00am. Costs will be $3.00 per person for the tour and lunch is on your own.
