All Saints DayWe will honor our recently deceased members, or relatives, of the congregation on Sunday, November 7 at all three services. We invite you to send a picture of your deceased loved one to be included in the Power Point presentation. The pictures will be shown on a screen as the names are read. If at all possible, the best way to send the picture would be by email to Sharon Harman. However, a picture in any format is welcome and will be returned. Please send pictures to Sharon by October 27.

The Blind SidePlease come and join us on Sunday evening as we watch The Blind Side,the story of Michael Oher, a homeless and traumatized boy who became an All American football player and first round NFL draft pick with the help of a caring woman and her family.

It is rated PG-13 for one scene involving brief violence, drug and sexual references.

The Young At Heart group will be celebrating the holidays and especially Christmas, when they get together on Wednesday, December 8. They will begin with lunch at noon in Chapel Hall followed by Christmas Caroling led by Brett Goad.

The Youth Group retreat will be at Wesley WoodsUnited Methodist Youth Ministry in Williams Bay on Gemeva Lake. The same place as our summer camp!

We will leave DGFUMC late in the afternoon on Friday, December 17 and return to DGFUMC about noon on Sunday, December 19.

Cost is $110. That includes Housing for two nights, 5 meals and horseback riding. Yep, we will be horseback riding at Fantasy Hills Ranch!!

Please bring and snack to share. We will be using the "Grill Cheesus" episode of the TV show "Glee" If you are a parent and would like to see the episode you can find it on the internet on FOX or YouTube. The info will be in the mail on 11/16.

The Straight StoryThe Reverend Fred Conger will present and lead a discussion on the film The Straight Story, a 1999 release starring Richard Farnsworth and Sissy Spacek as 73-year-old Alvin Straight and his mentally-challenged daughter Rose. Learning that his long-estranged brother, Lyle, is seriously ill, Alvin decides it’s time to reconcile. The only problem: Alvin can no longer drive. Undeterred, he sets out on a 260 mile odyssey aboard his 1966 John Deere riding mower and meets and touches the lives of many souls during his six week journey.

Christmas PeaceParents, what would you do with 3 hours of free time during the hectic holiday season? Get a massage, shop, read, nap, watch football?

The Children and FamilyWork Area would like to invite children (infant through11 years old) to come to the church on the 19th for an afternoon of Christmas activities and fun!

Cost is $5 a child or $10 for 2 or more children. Sign-up in the office.

Feed My Starving ChildrenThis holiday season we are inviting families to take amoment from the hustle and bustle of preparing for Christmas to reinforce to our children the positive impact of giving. We have found a terrific outing that surely exemplifies the Christmas spirit.

On Tuesday, December 21 at 2:30pm we will be going to Feed May Starving Children in Aurora. Feed My Starving Children is an organization that allows volunteer groups to come in and dispense and package meals for hungry children. This family activity is for parents and children (must be at least Kindergarten age). Smaller children will be cared for at the church during the outing.

After our volunteer shift, we will come back to the church for dinner and family crafts.

Holiday Cheer is for the families and chidren of Andrew's Answer, the Children's Ministry program of UCRP. These are the children that we work with during our summer mission trips to UCRP and through Jenny Kirkpatrick's Girl Scout Gold project. We need 10 youth and at least 2 parents to help. (we need the parents to drive) We will be serving dinner, helping with crafts and games and handing out gifts! You will be on your way home by 8:30.
